Cyriel Dessers, who is on the Super Eagles provisional squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, scored a goal and made an assist as Rangers stunned hosts Fenerbache in a UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie tonight.
Dessers got Rangers going as early as the sixth minute, before he gave his fourth assists of the competition for his team to lead 2-1 on 42 minutes.
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was solid for the Scottish giants when he was introduced in the 28th minute.
Fellow Eagles star Bright Osayi-Samuel of Fenerbache was suspended for this clash.
The return leg will be played next Thursday in Scotland with the overall winners advancing to the quarterfinal of the Europa League.
