EXCLUSIVE: Igho Ogbu invited as Eric Chelle reorganises Super Eagles defence

SCORENigeria has specially gathered that Slavia Praha defender Igho Ogbu will be one of the uncapped players for must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month as coach Eric Chelle rearranges the Super Eagles central defence.

Injury to Semi Ajayi, the longtime partner of captain William Ekong, is one of the reasons behind this re-organisation, SCORENigeria further learnt.

Former Flying Eagles star Ogbu is therefore a direct replacement for the effective if not spectacular Ajayi.

Ogbu, 25, has scored a goal in 27 appearances across various competitions for Slavia Praha, who are top of the Czech Super Liga.

At 1.87 metres tall, he is a strapping defender who loves to join the attack.

CHAN Eagles star Ifeanyi Onyebuchi from Enugu Rangers is the other uncapped central defender on the Super Eagles final squad for the World Cup ties.

The Eagles has been impressed by the physical presence of the Enugu Rangers star since he watched him in a CHAN Eagles test game against Sunshine Stars.
