Drop in form, transfers deliver new Flying Eagles

Coach Aliyu Zubairu has had to reorganise the Flying Eagles following transfers to Europe of some players while a drop in form caused some other players from the WAFU B triumph last year were axed due to poor form.

Star striker Kparobo Arierhi has transferred to Norwegian club Lillestrom, goalkeeper Nathanial Nwosu is now in England, while striker Charles Agada has moved to Croatia.

SCORENigeria further gathered that winger Musa Akinfenwa and midfielder Raphael Oyebanjo were not the same players who made the final cut to the WAFU B championship in Togo.

This afternoon, the new Flying Eagles made up by as many as 10 uncapped players will tackle U20 AFCON hosts Cote d’Ivoire as part of their build-up for the tournament, which serves as qualifiers for the U20 World Cup in Chile.

Nigeria are drawn in a tough first round group of the 2025 U20 AFCON along with Tunisia, Morocco and South Africa.

Flying Eagles off to winning start vs U20 AFCON hosts Cote d’Ivoire
