SCORENigeria can exclusively report that Union St.Gilloise striker Promise David, who scored his first UEFA Europa League goal against Ajax Thursday night, has formally applied to change his international allegiance from Nigeria to Canada.
David, a direct replacement for Victor Boniface at Belgian club Union, previously featured for Nigeria in an official U23 qualifier.
“His application to change eligibility has been approved by the NFF,” a top source informed SCORENigeria
David was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and so he is also eligible to play for that country, who are one of the co-hosts for next year’s World Cup along with the USA and Mexico.
The 23-year-old centre-forward has thus far scored 13 goals and made three assists in 27 appearances for Union this season.
