Ademola Lookman will quit Atalanta in the summer, according to Top Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano.
This comes in the wake of the fallout between the Super Eagles star and Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini after the Italian club exited the UEFA Champions League.
Gasperini blamed Ademola Lookman for Atalanta ouster from the Champions League after he missed a crucial penalty kick Tuesday night and they were knocked out by Club Brugge.
Transfer Expert Romano reported that the player will leave Atalanta in the summer after he was initially to quit last year.
Understand plan remains for Ademola Lookman to LEAVE Atalanta this summer,” he posted on X
“Atalanta will try to clarify the situation with Gasperini in the next 24h after strong quotes… but won’t change future plans.
“It was already planned last summer, transfer to happen this year.”
It would be recalled that the player was seriously linked with PSG last summer with top Atalanta officials maintaining he will not go.
The 27-year-old forward has refused to sign a contract extension.
In the meantime, top management staff are expected to meet with the player and Atalanta coach over the rift caused from the team’s exit from the Champions League.
