Will Eric Chelle complete NPFL quota for Super Eagles?

The countdown has begun for next month’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe and now it is left to be seen whether or not Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle will fill up the quota of home-based players to be called up.

The NFF have asked for at least three players to be called up by the Super Eagles, SCORENigeria has reliably learnt.

It has already been reported that two home-based players have caught the eye of the new Super Eagles coach – Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (central defender, Enugu Rangers) and Papa Daniel (attacking midfielder, Niger Tornadoes).

Eric Chelle was impressed with the two players during a CHAN Eagles test game against Sunshine Stars last month and has been tracking their progress.

The coach will return to Nigeria this week and will watch a couple of NPFL matches.

Will there be a third home-based player on the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Rwanda and the home game in Uyo against Zimbabwe?
