NPL Player of Week: Youngster Timothy Zachariah reclaims Rivers United top spot

The NPFL Player of Week 16 is Rivers United young striker Timothy Zakariah.

Timothy Zakariah scored a goal and provided an assist for Rivers United to come from behind to beat visiting Kwara United in Port Harcourt.

He has now netted two goals in his first season with ‘The Pride of Rivers’ after he opened his goals’ account at Sunshine Stars last month.

On Sunday, visiting Kwara United stunned the home fans with an 18th minute goal before Timothy Zakariah drew Rivers United level in the 53rd minute.

The youngster then provided the assist for another youngster David Benjamin to get the winning goal six minutes later after coming off the bench.

The home win has got Rivers United back on top of the NPFL standings ahead of closest rivals Remo Stars, who were held at Ikorodu City.

Rivers United have 32 points from 17 matches, two points ahead of Remo Stars.
