Super Falcons and Paris FC No 1 goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has made the five-person shortlist of nominees for the women’s CAF Player of the Year 2024.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who features for Spanish club Atletico Madrid, did not make the final cut.
Nnadozie, who helped her French club reach the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and featured at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will vie for the top individual gong with the Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, from Malawi, Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco/ASFAR), as well as Barbra Banda (Zambia/Orlando Pride).
There will certainly be a new winner of this prestigious prize as multiple winner Asisat Oshoala is not in the running this year.
Nnadozie is also in the race to retain the Goalkeeper of the Year Award she won last December.
Super Falcons (National Team of the Year), Chris Danjuma (Coach of the Year), and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu of Rivers Angels (Young Player of the Year) also made the shortlist of the various award categories.
The CAF Awards ceremony will be staged in Morocco on December 16.
