Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Idah Peterside has sparked controversies with his postion on various topics concerning the country’s team and football.
Peterside hs questioned the position Alex Iwobi is played by the Super Eagles and the commitment of foreign-born players to the national team.
He also advocated by former internationals are best suited to lead the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
“Iwobi is played in the middle in the Super Eagles, while at his club he plays from the wings,” Peterside told a radio station.
“It’s like we are taking the same eye to look at Iwobi as we did for ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
“Iwobi may be ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha’s nephew, but ‘Jay Jay’ was in a different class, he was a GOAT.”
Former Super Eagles media officer Peterside also said that players born in Nigeria have often shown to be more commited when they play for the Super Eagles than the players who were born overseas.
He said this is so because the home-born stars know what it takes to play for Nigeria.
The former international goalkeeper further canvassed for ex-stars to head the NFF because they played the game and know what is needed to move Nigeria football forward.
Peterside contested for the NFF presidency in 2022.
