These Super Eagles ‘very strong’ declares Eguavoen

Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has lauded the top quality of the Super Eagles, saying in time they will make Nigerians proud again.

“This team is very strong,” declared Eguavoen himself a former international, who featured at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

“We only need more time together.

“These days the longest we have trained together is four days.

“Once we can have longer time to train together and do things together, this team will make Nigerians proud again.”

“The Super Eagles will keep winning to keep smiles on the faces of Nigerians as we’re all going through hard times,” he added.

The Super Eagles have sealed qualification to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco with two rounds of matches to spare.

“We have approached every single game as a World Cup final because points matter,” the coach said as he attempts to explain how the national team have won back public confidence since June, when their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign took a major battering with a shock 2-1 loss to Benin.

Eguavoen said his philosophy is to delegate responsibilities and work based on mutual respect.
