How soon will Osimhen break Super Eagles all-time goals record of Yekini?

Victor Osimhen is now 14 goals shy of the Super Eagles all-time goals record of the legendary Rashidi Yekini.

The 25-year-old striker netted his 23rd goal in his 38th appearance for Nigeria against Benin in Abidjan Thursday night.

This matched the record of another legend, Segun ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami.

Yekini’s all-time record stands at 37 goals in 58 matches.

Osimhen now has 14 goals to reach Yekini’s milestone

Barring injury and loss of form, when will Osimhen beat this milestone?

The Super Eagles will be very busy in 2025.

They have six 2026 World Cup qualifying matches to play as well as the 2025 AFCON to play in December 2025.

The precarious position of the Super Eagles in 2026 World Cup qualifying series means that they will do well to rack up goals in the remaining qualifiers.

Osimhen proved again Thursday night in Abidjan he is the man to hammer out a result for the Super Eagles even when they are not playing their best.

Monday’s now formality qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo will afford Osimhen a big opportunity to improve his Super Eagles tally.

The coming year will go a long way to determine how much closer he will get to outscoring ‘Ye-King’ in the green-white-green shirt of the Super Eagles.
