Super Eagles will fight for every point vs Benin – Eguavoen

Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has declared that the Super Eagles will fight for all three points in tonight’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin in Abidjan.

Nigeria top Group D with 10 points from four matches and will need at least a draw tonight to seal qualification to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Benin, on the other hand, will most likely need to win to stay clear of closest rivals Rwanda, who are a point behind in the standings and host bottom team Libya also today.

It’s all to play for tonight and a bullish Eguavoen was clear on this.

“The mindset we come to any game is to win, but it’s easier said than done,” the coach said in his pre-match press conference.

“We fight for every ball, we fight for every point and that’s what we will do

“Benin are no pushovers, we will work hard to achieve our objectives.”

He praised Benin coach Gernot Rohr, who was for several years in charge of the Super Eagles.

“He’s part of us, we know what he’s capable of,” he said.
