Low-budget Super Falcons shine or go home fires coach Madugu

Home-based players will from today get a massive chance to audition for places in Super Falcons dominated by foreign pros and interim coach Justin Madugu has made it very clear that you are out if you don’t impress.

It will be a low-budget Super Falcons who will this afternoon take to the pitch against Algeria in an international friendly in Ikenne after Madugu called up a record 19 players based locally.

He has now said it is the chance for the local stars to either shine or go home.

“It’s a big chance for the players,” he said.

“If you don’t live up to expectations, you will force us to look elsewhere because Nigeria deserve to play their best players.”

The smooth-talking coach said nine-time African champions Nigeria have the potentials to make a huge impact at the global stage.

“Even though we didn’t win the last WAFCON, we remain one of the best teams in Africa,” he maintained.

“We have to work harder to be where we used to be even though there are no minnows in Africa.

“With the quality of the players we have, we ought to make a bigger impact at the World Cup.

“The potentials are there.”
