Have NFF motivated Flying Eagles to fly high at U20 AFCON qualifiers?

The Flying Eagles will tomorrow afternoon begin the defence of the WAFU B U20 championship, however there are strong indications that team morale may be low due to lack of motivation.

Besides the non-payment of outstanding allowances and bonuses from the 2023 U20 AFCON and U20 World Cups, the team are yet to receive camp allowances since they opened training camp in Abuja about a month ago.

It was gathered that the only cash the players have so far received was the one million Naira gift from Remo Stars owner Kunle Soname.

No senior NFF official has accompanied the team to Togo and there has been no financial commitment from the football federation to the team.

Also, the Flying Eagles did not play a Grade A test game to prepare them for this tournament.

Rather they tested their readiness for the competition against academies as they could not secure matches against clubs in either the NPFL or NNL.

The U20s will kick off their U20 AFCON qualifying campaign tomorrow against Burkina Faso.

Kick-off time at the Municipal Stadium in Lome, Togo, is 4pm in Nigeria.
