Napoli loanee to Galatasaray Victor Osimhen is up against Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman for the NFF Player of the Month for September.
Both stars featured prominently in Super Eagles 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda last month.
Osimhen has been an instant hit at Turkish champions Galatasaray, while Ademola Lookman has continued to carry his Italian club in both the Serie A and UEFA Champions League after his heroics in the Europa League final last season.
Fellow Super Eagles stars Victor Boniface, Wilfred Ndidi and Josh Maja also made the shortlist of nominees of this newly designed award by the football federation.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who has been outstanding for Atletico Madrid in the Spanish women’s league, headlines the nominees in the Women’s Player of the Month.
Super Falcons No 1 Chiamaka Nnadozie, Chiwendu Ihezuo, Rinsola Babajide and Rosa Ariyo also made the shortlist of nominees.
The other award categories are Goal of Month and Discovery of Month.
Voting is open to both fans and journalists and it will close on Wednesday, October 9.
