Belgian champions Club Brugge have opted not to appeal against sanctions handed Raphael Onyedika after his straight red card at the weekend.
The Super Eagles midfielder will therefore be suspended for a match and pay a fine of 1,000 Euros after he was sent off for a rash tackle against Sporting Charleroi.
“He came with straight legs, studs forward, on the foot/ankle of the Charleroi player. This happened with a medium to high intensity, whereby he endangered the safety of his opponent’, the match referee Nathan Verboomen told Het Nieuwsblad
Both Club Brugge coach and captain had earlier risen in defence of Onyedika, saying the red card was too harsh.
