Rwanda coach Torsten Spittler has said the Moroccan referee was right to overrule a 22nd minute effort by Ademola Lookman for the Super Eagles in a 2025 AFCON qualifier in Kigali Tuesday.
The German coach said the Super Eagles committed an infringement leading up to the goal.
“There was a foul leading to the goal, the player (Semi Ajayi) heading to the second post pushed our player,” Spittler explained.
“The referee was in good position to make the call.”
The Rwanda coach admitted he is happy with the scoreless draw with a “strong” Super Eagles.
“We’re happy with the draw,” he said.
“Outside the problems in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers a few months ago, Nigeria are a strong side, they have a lot of quality and they are not easy to beat.”
The Amavubi of Rwanda are the surprise leaders of a World Cup qualifying group that also has the Super Eagles.
