Probably the fiercest battle for a Super Eagles first-team start for tomorrow’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin will be one between Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman.
Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen favours wing play and the question would be who does he pick between Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman to start on the left flank.
At the 2023 AFCON in February, coach Jose Peseiro selected Ademola Lookman on the left flank, while Moses Simon was pushed to the right wing even though he made it very clear he prefers to be on the left.
While Ademola Lookman shone from the left wing at the 2023 AFCON, Moses Simon was one of the standout stars for the Super Eagles at the 2021 AFCON with Eguavoen in charge.
