Top official of Shooting Stars Dimeji Lawal has said the team will be gunning to be champions of the NPFL in the new season.
The NPFL season will open Saturday when defending champions Enugu Rangers take on Federation Cup winners El Kanemi Warriors.
Shooting Stars finished fourth last season and will open their campaign in the new season at Nasarawa United on Sunday, September 8.
Team manager and former international Dimeji Lawal has been bullish about his team’s chances.
“Priority for us is to win the league, we’re very positive,” he declared.
“We got a good foundation from last season, we have retained our coach (Gbenga Ogunbote), who is one of the most experienced coaches in the country, and our pre-season form has been great as we won two tournaments.”
Shooting Stars have won the league five times and they were last crowned champions in 1998.
