Victor Boniface tonight won his third trophy when Bayer Leverkusen defeated VfB Stuttgart 4-3 on penalties after fulltime scores stood at 2-2.
Boniface opened the scoring early in the game, finishing from close range from Tapsobaâs effort in the 11th minute.
Just four minutes later, Stuttgart replied through Enzo Gillet.
Ill luck fell on Leverkusen as midfielder Martin Gillet was sent off, reducing them to ten men.
Hence, Victor Boniface had to be sacrificed for a defender, Jonathan Tah.
Three minutes after the hour mark, Stuttgart roared into the lead, but Patrick Schick showed the âNeverlusenâ attitude as he fired late into the game to take it into penalties.
Leverkusen triumphed 4-3 on penalties for their third major trophy.
Fellow Super Eagles star Nathan Tella was also impressive as he won seven duels and put in a decent attacking performance for the âDie Werkselfâ
