General Admission Requirements

All applicants must meet the following general requirements:-

  • All applicants must have credit passes in five (5) relevant O’Level subjects, including English Language. The credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings. Candidates with O’Level results obtained before 2017 must present their original certificates, as statements of result or result slips will not be accepted.
  • NYSC Completion Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Exclusion Certificate is required from all applicants.
  • Applicants may be required to sit for a screening test, which may include subject area of specialisation and oral interaction.
  • Applicants must meet departmental requirements for their chosen programme in addition to the general qualifications.
  • Applicants who used remedial programmes must show evidence that they remedied relevant subjects externally using WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
  • Applicants must ensure that transcripts and three reference forms are forwarded to the Postgraduate School.
  • Admission will not normally be offered without transcripts and reference letters.

Postgraduate Diploma Programme

  • Graduates of the University of Uyo or any other university recognised by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
  • Persons with qualifications judged by the Senate to be equivalent to a first degree may also be considered.
  • Holders of a recognised Higher National Diploma (HND) are eligible to apply.

Master’s Degree Programme

  • Graduates of the University of Uyo or any other university recognised by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
  • Must possess at least a Second-Class Honours degree, irrespective of CGPA.

M.Sc Medical Microbiology

Graduates from the following areas:

  • Microbiology
  • Virology plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology
  • MBBCh, MBBS or its equivalent

Master’s in Public Health

  • Applicants must possess an MBBS degree.
  • Must have a full registration number with the Medical and Dental Council (MDCN).

PhD Programme

  • Graduates of the University of Uyo or any other university recognised by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
  • Must possess a Master’s degree with dissertation.
  • Must have an overall CGPA of at least 60% (grade B or equivalent).

Integrated MPhil/PhD Programme

  • Must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Uyo or any other recognised university.
  • Must have an average score of 55% to less than 60% in the Master’s programme.
