Victor Boniface: Why we are Bundesliga champions

Victor Boniface has given reasons why his club Bayer Leverkusen have been crowned champions of Germany for the first time in their history.

The striker scored the opening goal and assisted the second goal for Leverkusen to trounce Werder Bremen Sunday to be champions of the Bundesliga and end an 11-year monopoly by Bayern Munich.

The Super Eagles striker attributed the change of fortune of his club to coach Xabi Alonso and the depth of the squad.

Victor Boniface: Why we are Bundesliga champions

“The coach reads the games very well,” Victor Boniface explained. “Just look at the match against West Ham (UEFA Europa League quarterfinal first leg): both scorers are players who came on.

“Xabi Alonso knows what the team need during the match to perform well.”

He also gave credit to a wholesome team effort.

“We have a group of 20-25 players, not 11, and everyone gives 100% whenever they get their chance,” he further reasoned.

Victor Boniface has scored 18 goals and made 10 assists in 27 appearances for the newly crowned champions.
