Hosts Ghana tonight dethroned the Falconets of Nigeria in first instalment of the Jollof Derby to clinch Gold medal at the 13th African Games at a packed Cape Coast Stadium.
Ghana came from a goal down to win 2-1 to be crowned Gold medalists in the women’s football event of the pan-African Games.
Loveth Edeh profited from a goalkeeper’s blunder in the 23rd minute to take the lead.
However, Ghana Black Princesses drew level in the 78th minute through Tracy Twum.
The medal-defining goal was netted in the 99th minute through Mukarama Abdullai.
Ghana thus regained the African Games Gold they won in 2015.
The huge crowd in Cape Coast played a huge role as they cheered the home team to another famous victory.
Both countries will be locked in another battle for supremacy later today in Marrakesh, Morocco, when the Black Stars take on the Super Eagles in a friendly.
Kick-off time is 5pm in Nigeria.
