BBN Queen Mercy Schools Pastor Kingsley Over His Claim Dat Men Aren’t Obligated to Provide For Women

  • Big Brother Naija’s Queen Mercy Atang has reacted to some claims made by the founder of David’s Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley
  • Recently, the man of God preached about the never-ending debate regarding men providing for their women
  • His hot take on the matter ignited a reaction from Mercy, who did not fail to educate the pastor

There has been a long-standing conversation about how much men are supposed to provide for their women or if they are obligated to provide at all.

The founder of David’s Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley, said in one of his preachings that men are not supposed to, and that it is more cultural than biological.

He further stated that women should not expect their men to provide for them all the way. His take on the matter did not sit well with Mercy, who schooled him using Bible verses as her backing.

She acknowledged that although she listens to and enjoys the man of God’s teachings, she would have to disagree with him on this notion.

In Mercy‘s words”

“Dear Pastor Kingsley, I truly appreciate and love your ministry. I regularly listen to your marriage sermons, and they have been a tremendous blessing to me. However, I respectfully disagree with you on this. The Bible clearly states that the man is the head of his wife (Ephesians 5:23, 1 Corinthians 11:3), and the woman is his helpmeet (Genesis 2:18).”

“A helper is meant to support not to carry the entire burden. She is there to assist when things aren’t going well, not to shoulder every responsibility in the home. To me, this is quite self-explanatory. By putting this message out, it seems you may be encouraging a shift where men feel less obligated to provide, while women are increasingly expected to take on that role.”

“The reality is that many women are already functioning as providers, and though your intention may not be to promote that imbalance, such messages can inadvertently reinforce it. I believe it’s important to be mindful of how such narratives are received, as they may lead some men to neglect their “God given”responsibilities. With love and respect.”

“I think when they mention men providing y’all thought it’s boyfriend and girlfriend, all these is about husband/wife! Genesis says MAN MUST TILL THE SOIL TO PROVIDE FOOD WHILE WOMAN GO THROUGH PAIN TO BIRTH CHILDREN! Culture says the same, me I don’t know where you see a husband who does not want to provide for his family.”

“Pastor Kingsley is actually speaking with the woman’s best interest at heart. Women learn to have your own, no matter how little. Depending on a man’s income SOLELY can breed disrespect, frustration and even resentment in the long run.”
