Promise David, who opted to play for Canada ahead of the Super Eagles, has made history after he scored the first-ever UEFA Champions League goal for Belgian club Union St.Gilloise.
David opened scoring in the ninth minute from the penalty spot as Union got off to a flying start in the Champions League group phase with a 2-1 win at PSV Eindhoven.
“This is a truly euphoric feeling, perhaps one of the best of my life. We just wanted to get a good result and leave with a sense of satisfaction, and look: we did it,” the striker said.
“Of course there’s some pressure with a penalty like that. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t, but ultimately you just have to put the ball in the net. I just took the shot and saw what would happen.”
