Actress Doyin Kukoyi has finally addressed the rumors that she is secretly married to veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
For years, whispers about their supposed romance and even marriage have followed her around.
The actress stated that the story began with a simple misunderstanding.

Speaking during an interview on Seun Oloketuyi’s YouTube channel, Kukoyi recounted that the speculation began in 2022 after she shared photos with Ogogo online.
According to her, the photos were taken on a movie set where she and the actor played husband and wife.
In the storyline, their on-screen daughter was getting married, and the cast shared celebratory pictures from the location.
She explained:
“I was at a movie location with Ogogo, we both played the roles of husband and wife where our daughter got married. The two of us took a picture, and I shared it on my social media page. Some people took that picture and started saying that we were married. Till today, a lot of people still believe that I’m married to Ogogo.”
The actress, who had an issue during hajj, admitted that she jokingly referred to Ogogo as her husband in the caption at the time, a move that fueled the gossip even further.
Kukoyi added that her decision to share the photo was simply out of admiration for the veteran actor.
She said, stressing that her feelings were based on respect for his artistry and influence in Nollywood, not a romantic relationship.
“I took the picture with Ogogo because I loved him.”
Despite clarifying multiple times, she revealed that fans still message her or comment online assuming she is Ogogo’s wife.
Beyond the rumor, Kukoyi used the interview to reflect on her three-decade-long career in Nollywood.
She highlighted her first professional experience in media, which began at Daar Communications, before she fully transitioned into acting.
She shared:
“I have been in Nollywood for over thirty years, and I thank God for the journey so far”
Her career, she added, has come with its highs and lows, but she is grateful for the recognition she has earned and the platform Nollywood has given her.

Doyin Kukoyi unveils new house

The actress, in the caption of her post, thanked God for her latest achievement as well as everything she has gained in the past.
