Club Brugge open talks for new deal for son of Super Eagles star amid other interests

Club Brugge have opened talks on a new contract with Kaye Furo, the son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, amid growing interests for the young striker.

The 18-year-old striker is under contract until 2027, but his performances at Club NXT have put him on the radar of several clubs.

That’s why Club Brugge want certainty now and are in talks to extend his contract, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

Furo is considered one of the brightest talents from the youth academy. He’s already allowed to train with the first team and has also been selected for the competition squad. However, he hasn’t made an official debut yet, as he’s currently competing for NXT.

However, the club recognize that there is also external interest and that waiting carries a risk. A timely contract extension should prevent Brugge from seeing another promising player leave prematurely.

The situation surrounding Furo aligns with a broader trend at Club Brugge.

In recent months, Romeo Vermant and Jorne Spileers have already signed new contracts, securing their futures. Joaquin Seys and Kyriani Sabbe are among the other talents from the club’s youth academy who are playing a significant role at Club Brugge.

In the near future, they should follow the example of Charles De Ketelaere and Maxim De Cuyper, among others, who first won prizes with Club Brugge and then took the step abroad.
