Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as KWAM 1, has tendered an apology over the incident involving him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
PUNCH reported that the singer expressed regret over the incident but maintained that the flask he carried on the day contained only water, not alcohol.
“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” he said.
TheTalk.NG recalls reporting that KWAM 1’s best friend shared the reason the singer carries a flask everywhere he goes.
KWAM 1 disclosed that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled with water at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac.
The singer, in his apology to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and Nigerians, said he acknowledged and deeply regretted the concerns that arose from the incident.
“It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols. My unwavering patriotism and loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt. I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades,” he said.

NCAA blacklists KWAM 1
Meanwhile, TheTalk.NG previously reported that NCAA blacklisted KWAM 1 for six months following his drama at Abuja airport.
The aviation regulatory body also stated it was working on petitioning the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to prosecute KWAM 1.
This was after NCAA had suspended the licenses of the two pilots over the incident.
