Coach Eric Chelle has warned that the CHAN Eagles could soon be back home should they play the same way in their remaining two group games as they did against Senegal.
The CHAN Eagles fell by a late goal to defending champions Senegal and they now have to get results against Sudan and Congo to advance to the quarterfinal of the 2024 CHAN.
They are bottom of Group D without any points, while Senegal top the standings with Sudan and Congo on a point each.
“If we play the same way in the upcoming games…we will end up returning to Nigeria (before the end of the tournament),” Eric Chelle warned.
He demanded the team step up for next Tuesday’s clash against Sudan, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Congo.
“We need to be more aggressive offensively and, of course, defensively,” he tasked.
“Even though we lost every duel, defensively I think we played well sometimes.
“But the reality is we made just one mistake.”
