Cyriel Dessers scored a goal and provided an assist for Rangers to beat Viktoria Plzen 3-0 and inch closer to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Dessers doubled the lead of home team Rangers from the penalty spot in the 45th minute after he had assisted in the opening goal.
The return leg tie will be in the Czech Republic Tuesday.
Fellow Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi was replaced in the second half by the visiting team.
