EFCC finally confirms the arrest of VDM, shares petition filed against him, people react

Nigeria’s financial crime police The EFCC has confirmed to be holding famous rights activist Martins Vincent Otse, often known as Verydarkblackman (VDM).

The EFCC has confirmed VDM’s detention to BBC News Pidgin.

The spokesperson for the commission Dele Oyewale stated on Monday that they arrested the activist based on petitions from certain complainants who had concerns against VDM.

“We arrest am to respond to series of allegations raised against am by some petitioners” na so Oyewale tok.

When we enquire if the petitions are tied to GT Bank, he says they are from different people, and it is the petitioners’ responsibility to preserve them.

He add say “we go release am wen e meet di bail conditions and we go carry di case go court as soon as possible, we dey law abiding”.

In final notes, they confirmed that the activist was arrested in Abuja
